Del Monte’s second annual Teacher Monday: Cash for Classrooms has begun! Teachers can submit their essays to be included in the weekly voting for a chance to win $1,000 of fresh fruit and school supplies for their students!
Voting begins Monday, September 26, 2011. Teachers who have submitted their essays will be listed on the Teacher Monday contest site. Everyone is able to vote for as many teachers as they want, once a day. Every Monday, ten winners will be announced based on the number of votes. The top teacher with the most votes each week will also win a Del Monte Field Fresh Day which will give them an afternoon of fresh fruit, games, and prizes for their school. The Teacher Monday voting continues on for six weeks. With new winners being announced each week, it allows more chances for the teachers to win throughout the contest, though votes do start over every week as well.
IF YOU’RE A TEACHER, you need to submit an essay about how you plan to incorporate healthy eating messages into your lesson plans. Then tell all of your students, friends, family, and co-workers to VOTE FOR YOU!
PARENTS AND STUDENTS– You need to help spread the word about this great contest to all of the teachers you know! You can send them to our blog or over to the Teacher Monday contest site to learn how to get entered. The prize will be awarded to the school s of the winning teachers so even if your/your child’s teacher doesn’t win, you could still benefit from another local teacher’s win. Be sure you encourage your teachers who have entered by leaving them some comments so they know you’re voting for them. 🙂
As if a contest for teachers to win fresh fruit and school supplies wasn’t enough, the winning schools will be partnered with a school in another country to encourage some cultural learning opportunities for the students. The partnered school will also receive a grant of $1,000 for school supplies and necessary improvements.
So what are you waiting for? Spread the word! Tell your friends, family, teachers, etc. Get everyone you possibly can involved in this great contest!
Also, be sure to like Del Monte Fresh Produce on Facebook. Facebook fans have a chance to win fresh fruit gift certificates every week!

We currently homeschool, but I think this is a great idea. I have teacher friends who are always concerned about the nutrition of a lot of their students. A lot come to school without having any breakfast. I think fresh fruit is a real treat to a lot of kids.
