Every year during the week of Veteran’s Day, I end up hearing many stories from my dad’s time in the military. Now that I have a blog, this year it also filled up my e-mail with press releases and review opportunities. As soon as I read the e-mail about this book in particular I decided I’d do a review on the book and then pass it along to my dad. Well, dad was there when the book arrived and I couldn’t keep it to surprise him later like I had planned. I showed him the book and, well, he started reading it almost immediately. A few days later he was done with it and asking if I had anymore. He also asked about writing the review himself so here is the first of what could be many book reviews by my dad, Mark, a retired pastor and Navy veteran.
What a wonderful story about a man who served his country in the Marines, Army, and Navy and fought for our freedom in the jungles of Vietnam. Then to be involved in an accident at home that the doctors said would prevent him from ever walking again. This story takes you from the enlistment in the service, the jungles of Vietnam and we are introduced to what real war is all about and not John Wayne style. You can almost feel the anguish as you follow this man from the nightmares of the war, waking up in the hospital bed covered with sweat from another one of the terrible nightmares about the war. Follow this man from the war to home to accident to picking himself up again and realizing his dream to once again wrestle as a pro and win a championship and his struggle with his faith in Jesus Christ and his love for his country.
I have enjoyed reading this book myself so far and I know there are many others who would like to read about the struggles that Ron Zuccaro has faced in his life as a pro wrestler and military veteran. This could be a great gift for yourself or someone on your Christmas list. You can purchase this book on Amazon or Tribute House Publishing for $25 or less.
Here is a video of Ron talking about his book.
