Our bedtime story last night was “The Mixed Up Truck” by Stephen Savage. This was a cute story about a cement truck’s first day at work. He was given his job assignment and kept making mistakes. He kept trying and his co-worker’s kept encouraging him. In the end he gets the job done right. He also learns that not all mistakes are bad and can actually be beneficial.

This is a great story to teach children to never give up and keep trying. This came at the perfect time for my son. He’s been trying to learn balance and how to pedal by himself on his big boy bike. Since I’m unable to help him with now at this stage in my pregnancy, he’s getting a little extra frustrated when he doesn’t get it right and no grown ups are around to help him. I keep telling him to keep trying and never give up. That’s exactly what The Mixed Up Truck has helped reinforce.
