My family started weekly swim lessons recently at Goldfish Swim School in Hudson. It’s something we all look forward to and enjoy each week. I may even enjoy it more than the kids since I love to swim and I *have* to be with my littlest for his. 😀
After the first lesson, I was a little discouraged. I thought that maybe my 1 1/2 year old was just a bit too young to get anything out of it. He wasn’t too in to it, he preferred watching the other littles or looking for his siblings. His big brother has been called my ‘fish’ because of his love and comfort in water. I had hoped he’d be the same but I was worried it just wasn’t going to happen.
HOWEVER,
At the next lesson, he participated! He enjoyed it! He did new things! Each week I have seen progress and it makes me so happy that he’s learning so much at such a young age.
Two weeks ago, my family was invited to a friend’s birthday party at the Y. We were all so excited to have an extra day of swimming that week. When we got to the pool, I realized I could put a life jacket on my littlest, which meant more chance of independence and that excited me so much because I’m always holding on to him at lessons. Once he warmed up to this new pool he was swimming to me and his siblings.
My favorite part though was when he would have me put him up on the ledge and he’d JUMP IN towards me. That was the moment that I realized how much he was learning from his lessons at Goldfish Swim School. Goldfish is actually teaching my one year old to swim!
I am so grateful that we’re all able to get lessons and it’s so exciting to see each of my children’s progress each week. If you’re thinking about getting your little ones involved in swimming, be sure to check out Goldfish Swim School in Hudson. It is well worth our 30 minute drive there each week. I’m sure you’ll be just as happy as we are at Goldfish Swim School.
