One rainy summer, Sasha Olsen’s mom handed her a book to read since the rain canceled their beach plans. That book was about Frida Kahlo. Once Sasha was done reading she decided to get creative and found herself in her mom’s closet. The rest of the story can be read in her just released book: Legends from Mom’s Closet.
In Legends from Mom’s Closet, 10 year old Sasha shares her diary entries as she learns about many inspiring women including Cleopatra, Audrey Hepburn, Twiggy. Throughout the book Sasha shares the people she has learned about along with drawings, tips on being her, and of course pictures of herself dressed up as them. In the book she says: “Dressing up never gets old. When I get dressed up, it helps me understand the people I learn about better. I put myself in their shoes (except they’re actually my mom’s) and think about what it would’ve been like to live their life.” Being creative with what you’ve learned can absolutely help ingrain the memory.
At this time when school children are home ALL the TIME, creativity is very important to fill those long days once the school work is done. This book is a great way to inspire that in the children in your life.

We made the extra time we had due to being home for the virus to start tomato plants from seeds and planted a garden with lots of veggies. Teaching Lexi about the seeds and she was so excited to watch them grow and be able to water them.
