Recently I ventured INSIDE my local Acme Fresh Market. This was a big deal because I have only been shopping through their Order Pickup since the coronavirus changed our lives in March. So why did I go INSIDE today, when covid has been getting worse? To meet and chat with my local butcher.
Now, I like to keep things real with you all. So here is some back story. When I was about 9 I found out what meat was (thanks big sis and big bro) and proceeded to slowly become a vegetarian until I was in my 20’s. To this day meat grosses me out and I do NOT like to touch it. (It’s okay, you can laugh. haha) I mainly prefer chicken but since my kids like more than that, I do my best to offer them a variety. However, that can be troublesome because I don’t know what I’m doing and I tend to stick with just a few usual varieties.
Today I met Greg at my local Acme in Norton, I immediately told him that I pretty much know nothing and he was great with explaining things to me and letting me know that he is there to help anytime. He took time out of his day to walk with me and talk to me about the different types of meats available, though specifically all about their Certified Angus Beef and Gerber Chicken. I found out what Greg typically has available and ways that he can help all of his customers at the Norton Acme Fresh Market.
Your local Acme Fresh Market butcher can:
- Help you choose the best type of meat for your dinner plans
- Help you select the right amount for anything from a family meal to a large party
- Help you choose the best cut based on your recipe
- Package meat in a specific portion size or number of pieces
- Slice or dice your meat to your personal preference
- Tie your meat to help hold a visually appealing shape
I’ve only really gotten to know more about Acme Fresh Markets since March despite living near them for many years. I love that Acme Fresh Markets are smaller, locally owned, grocery stores. Even better… they support other local businesses such as Certified Angus Beef in Wooster, Ohio, and Gerber Chicken in Kidron, Ohio. Greg told me all about how he has met some of the ranchers that raise the beef and he happily said:
“The beef is humanely sourced which is very important to us and more important to our customers. I feel confident knowing where the beef comes from. I couldn’t do this job if everything was coming from a factory farm.”
Acme Fresh Market is the place for quality meats – Itβs exactly what I want for my family. Greg made me feel very good about the quality of meat that I am purchasing and feeding my family. I know that he (along with all of the other Acme butchers) would like to help you find the meat that your family will enjoy. Greg said that when it’s possible, it is always better to order ahead “because we can go through all of the meat that day and we can find you what we think is best. If you come in at night and request a steak cut we’re going to grab a bag and cut it for you. If I cut 100 pieces in a day, I’ll give you the best one out of that 100. It’s always better to order ahead. It saves time and hassle and ensures the customer gets the best cut.”
When I asked Greg if he had anything else to say, he said the most important thing is
“Don’t be afraid to call and ask us. If we can’t get exactly what you want, we can get really, really, close.”
I was excited to find out that special meat orders can be included with Order Acme pickup! I’ve been using Order Acme pickup services since March and had no idea that I could get special orders included. If you are placing an Order Acme order just leave a note on the order on what to ask the butcher for. Be sure to call ahead and place your order with the butcher.
I have been very happy with my meat purchases from Acme Fresh Market since I started ordering from them in March and I’m sure you will be as well! Next time you’re getting some groceries, head to your local Acme Fresh Market and see what they have for you! If you’re a grocery pickup shopper, no worries, they take care of us through Order Acme.
