I cried. I don’t like to cry in front of other people and I sure don’t tell anyone when a show or a book brings me to tears. But, with this book, I was in tears by page 5. I didn’t expect to get to that big part of Abby’s story so soon into the book. I could barely get through the beginning of the book. One, because of what was written on those pages. The other, because Abby has a daughter named Grace as well who she spoke of and it really got to me.

I have never agreed with abortion and recently I have remembered being part of an anti-abortion event with my church when I was young. I remember standing on the side of the road with some signs. Other than discussing the topic at times, I haven’t been involved in anything else like that. I know people feel that abortion can be their only option sometimes, but I may never understand it all. I have been through losing a baby early in pregnancy and I can’t imagine dealing with something similar because of something I chose to do. I am so happy that Abby made it to where she is today and is able to share her story with us.

Unplanned is a great book for everyone as long as they realize there may be some disturbing things to read. After reading this, I believe it’s good for those like me who simply wanted to see what happened in Abby’s life. I also believe it could be good for those who are confused about a decision they need to make in their lives since Abby has been on ‘both sides of the fence’ and truly knows both sides.
